To facilitate VLA User-Driven Imaging and an overall more accessible data archive
for the VLA, the metadata provided to users needs to be refined to be closer to
the metadata display used for ALMA.
For each VLA EB, we need to provide a collapsible view of the metadata as done per ALMA MOUS. Some of the required metadata are not currently harvested for each EB, thus, to complete these requirements additional metadata needs to be harvested for VLA data. The metadata required and not currently stored are identified below. An example of the stored metadata is also provided at the bottom of the requirements page.
For the frequency information, we need to provide information in two tiers of increasing
complexity.
In the first tier; we should provide a listing of the VLA bands contained within the
dataset. For each band we need to display:
- Minimum Frequency (can be determined from metadata stored)
- Maximum frequency (can be determined from metadata stored)
- aggregate bandwidth per band (can be determined from metadata stored)
- maximum spectral resolution (cannot be determined from metadata stored)
- minimum spectral resolution (cannot be determined from metadata stored)
Then for the second tier of information will expand the information shown for each band. This expandable view that will show all spws associated with the band, sorted in order of central
frequency provided in columns:
- Central frequency (can be determined from metadata stored)
- Bandwidth (can be determined from metadata stored)
- channels (cannot be determined from metadata stored)
- spectral resolution (cannot be determined from metadata stored)
We require that all targets within the dataset be displayed, showing:
- Field name (can be determined from metadata stored)
- RA, Dec (can be determined from metadata stored)
- integration time on target (can be determined from metadata stored)
- Bands observed (can be determined from metadata stored)
- Intent (e.g., target, phase, pointing) (can be determined from metadata stored)

Getting issue details...
STATUS
The current scan listing that is provided is disorganized and in sufficient. The scan listing
should be sorted in chronological order, providing the columns:
scan start, scan end, scan time, ra, dec, target name, min freq, max freq, intent, polarizations, integration time (currently 'Temporal Resolution'). This should be quite similar to the listobs
output in CASA.
Additional requirements:
Intent and Band Display Dependencies:
The Bands detected per VLA data should only look at those bands with calibration or science
intents. Any bands that only have CALIBRATE_POINTING, UNSPECIFIED, and/or SYSTEM_CONFIGURATION should
not show up as a 'Band' contained within the dataset. We are only concerned with the Bands that
have science data.
Observing Logs:
The observing log should be available available in the metadata display for each EB as a clickable link.
QA State Requirements:
The Archive needs to track the QA state of VLA projects (and ALMA projects). That way users will know projects than have only gotten the 'Basic' calibration QA and the 'SRDP' calibration QA. This is important for when to allow or disallow VLA User-Defined Imaging.
