Right now VLA optimized imaging is in wave 2, I had thought that this was a wave 3 target. Also, don't we need standard imaging up and running prior to optimized imaging?
Also, I think that some thought is going to have to be given to the VLBA SRDP timeline since that doesn't appear here. We will likely need to identify some staff that can contribute to the VLBA effort in the future.

The idea is that if we do "Optimized" meaning user triggered imaging for the VLA first, we can roll it out, have fewer imaging targets (since only those that PIs request will be done), and gain experience on the state of the imaging pipeline. Basically we test the limits of the pipeline by doing only triggered reductions. Then we can go to standard for those modes that the imaging pipeline has been demonstrated to work well on and do all projects in those modes. We also need the new PST to really be able to capture what the PI intent is in order to make useful standard images.
On the VLBA, the current emphasis is on getting a path to reducing the data in CASA first. They are in the process of hiring in someone to work on that, once they come online and the path is starting to get set I agree we should add VLBA to the roadmap.
