Self-calibration usage modes for initial capability:

  • Phase-only, continuum-only
    • Amplitude attempts as future development possibility
  • Single pointing observations (no mosaics)
    • Aggregate continuum self-calibration (gaincal combine=spw, applycal spwmap)
    • Per-spw self-calibration (mapping from wide to narrow windows)
      • Need to understand conditions where per-spw will perform better
    • Long and short baseline observations

Later Usage modes to consider:

  • Support for self-calibration within mosaics (interpolation over entire scans).

Pre-requisites:

S/N < X.0 (suggest 5.0, but will test) for a given target per scan such that it makes sense to attempt self-cal.
