From Email Thread:

If time is an issue, then I suggest a phased approach. The current state of play: SSA has demonstrated that we can ingest & retrieve the cubes and images with basic project information provided and using the default delivery methodology. Caveats: * Grouping Incorrect * 4 sets of files for each grid, with the spectral cubes as science products * All 16 images for a grid as a single science product preferred * Metadata * Location reference based on the axis reference points * Image center preferred * Projection effects not properly taken into account Those caveats are things that could be rectified after the fact. The Curator tool from the Workspaces project has performed similar revisions in both metadata and relational information. If we declare this current state of play to be sufficient for the time being, we don't require any more development of the AAT software. The remaining work is in automating the large set of ingestions.

File Ingestion and Retrieval Projects:

With a focus on getting the files in and retrievable, we have the following tasks to cover the whole set of ALFALFA files, we define methodology for each type of file.   The images are the anchor points for the ALFALFA data set, and that project must go first.  The other two are more flexible.    These are all expected to be SSA Ops projects.

  • 4 science product images (a,b,c,d spectral.fits files)
    • 3 ancillary images (spectralweights, continuum, contiuumweights) for each science product
  • N group ancillary spectra (delivered with any grid image downloaded)
  • 1 group ancillary catalog (delivered with any grid image downloaded)

Metadata/Structure Revisions:

This subset of the projects still require more requirements work.   The known changes for images are already captured, but other requirements may be added.   The best home for these projects is yet to be determined, some may be better handled by Team Deimos instead of SSA Ops
