Agenda

  • News

  • Program Administration
  • Project Management
    • official closeout date for SRDP project
      • Main issue is reporting to TB, but we now also have regular ops reports. Maybe official wind-up of project should be with the Fall 2024 pipeline release (Oct 24)? Need to discuss with AR.
      • Tony R will organize a meeting 2nd half of March to discuss SRDP transition to ops.
  • Project RADIAL
    • Superknova project ready for review, Mark and Chris De Pree will review, Amy only if time.
    • Continuing meetings with UPRM
    • ODI special session at Madison AAS, may include RADIAL. Coordinate with ML's science presentation.
  • Science Ready Data Products
    • Stephan working on 5 yr SSA plan, will include both new capabilities for SRDP and VLASS and also support of streamlined/automated QA. Need to make sure this process continues with his successor.
      • Timeline for cal+img capability (and implications for ops).
      • Need to include Amy (NMOps) in planning discussions
    • ~1-10% of early legacy (mostly pre-1986) VLA projects cannot be read into CASA. Bryan and John investigating.
      • Some are indeed corrupted, others might be rescued.
    • Intermittent NAASC lustre issues for AUDI & restores.
    • Statement on what we mean by 'SRDP'
      • The science readiness of a dataset is science-ready will depend on the science goals of individual users. The data from SRDP services are expected to be immediately usable for science and produce scientifically valid results in the supported modes, but data products may not be 'fully-optimized' for all the science users may perform.

possible additional sentence: That is to say that expert users may be able to obtain superior results with careful manual processing and imaging, versus the automatic calibration and imaging pipelines.

      • Aim should be to give NMOps quantitative QA standards, e.g. image QA right now is mostly qualitative. Pass/fail based on metrics without much intervention is closer to ngVLA plan. What image mitigation should be used?
      • ML to update transition plan draft with JT.
  • VLASS
    • Pipeline testing - almost complete? Yes
    • HPG testing ongoing, will test all modes (HPG, AWP2, AWP, mosaic).
    • IAU - ML going, put in abstract for sky survey theme in Div J (galaxies & cosmology)
    • Listening session outcome: 1.1 SE processing on indefinite hold. Tony and Trish will take notes from the session and add context for TB.
  • CIRADA
    • Told the CIRADA management committee that we will probably not complete our in-kind contribution (catalogs and convolved coarse cubes) by Dec 31st 2024 when the project wraps up. Likely we can continue to contribute for another 12 months though, which should suffice.
      • Noted that coarse cube runs are by Ops group, schedule unclear esp. with 4.1 uncertain.
      • Dillon may be making QL catalogs and transient marshall during 3.2, could be charging to CIRADA too.
      • Check new scope is in statement of work.
  • AOB
    • Next AI/ML meeting mid- to late-March, focus on VLASS imaging.
